Fast Charge, Go Far: The New Era of EV Power

Summer heat is one of the biggest enemies of EV battery health. When temperatures reach 40°C, battery degradation accelerates by approximately 15% per 1,000 cycles compared to moderate conditions. The good news? A few simple habits can make a real difference.

Charge During Cooler Hours

Avoid charging during peak afternoon heat when battery internal temperatures soar. Charging at 40°C causes about 30% faster degradation than at 30°C. Instead, charge early morning or late evening when temperatures drop – this reduces thermal stress and helps maintain battery stability.

Let the Battery Rest Before Plugging In

After a long drive, your battery is already warm. Plugging it in immediately for a fast charge adds even more heat. Let the vehicle sit for 15 to 30 minutes in the shade before connecting the charger. This brief cool-down period prevents unnecessary wear on battery cells and can shorten charging times.
